Responsible for technical support of all electromechanical production equipment used to produce Vicor products. The primary objective is to ensure that Manufacturing Operations run at maximum efficiency and output while producing to world class standards.  This includes people management, total productive maintenance management and managing all breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment.

The Technical Support Manager sets the strategic direction for the Technical Support Group through effective goal setting, monitoring and feedback.

The overall purpose of this role is to lead the Tech Support Team to provide both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operations equipment and infrastructure.  Established Key Performance/Process Indicators (KPI’s) will be used to ensure the team is following technical best practices via established standard policies and procedures.  Continuous Improvement practices, training/mentoring team members, highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes are all key requirements of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual Goals and Objectives then drive them to successful completion.  This includes presenting progress updates at the Monthly Operations Report (MOR) meeting.

  • Communicates with employees on a monthly basis through group meetings

  • Provides feedback to the Manufacturing Operations Senior Management Team on Strategic Initiatives for the Tech Support organization.

  • Reviews and Amends Preventive Maintenance intervals for optimal cost and effectiveness

  • Reviews equipment aging to propose replacement/repair options to reduce our exposure as equipment goes beyond its estimated useful life

  • Establish a working environment that promotes continuous improvement and high morale.

  • Must be able to meet schedules and solve daily problems.

The successful candidate will have experience managing/maintaining a highly automated 24X7 operation and will be held accountable for meeting corporate objectives of revenue, product quality, uptime, manpower and cost control.

Minimum Requirements

  •  BS/MS in Engineering or Management or Equivalent Experience
  • Technical background/experience required
  • 5+ years Management experience
  • 5+ years Maintenance/Support Experience
  • 5-10 years in a Manufacturing Environment

Specific Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of Surface Mount Technology, Automated Test Equipment and Practices, Electro-Mechanical Systems (conveyors, controls, etc.), IT systems and controls, Equipment Maintenance Software and Robotics
